Because progress should reach everyone
For millions across India, a health problem becomes a crisis simply because the care they need is too far away, too expensive, or comes too late. Primary healthcare can change that: a child diagnosed before an illness becomes severe; a mother receiving care without travelling long distances; an elderly person finding medical attention close to home.
Yet access remains uneven. India has a 22% shortfall in primary healthcare facilities against required population norms.
AM Foundation was established in 2015 as the CSR arm of AM International to help address some of these gaps in the state of Tamil Nadu. Our efforts are carried out on behalf of our sponsors - the member businesses of AM International. Through our member corporates, we bring the Foundation's commitment to communities in places where our businesses operate.
Our commitment has grown into a decade of sustained work on the ground. In 2019, AM Foundation opened its first healthcare centres in Abirami Nagar and Maravanmadam in Thoothukudi. Today, 12 AM Healthcare Centres serve communities across Chennai and Thoothukudi. Beyond primary healthcare, Happy Periods has reached 135,000+ students, while the Foundation's wider initiatives have touched 700,000+ lives across 50+ villages.
Today, AM Foundation is focused on three areas
Happy Periods supports adolescent girls with menstrual health, while Nutrition Mix reaches children, mothers and the elderly who need it most. Sanitation blocks are built where children once had nowhere safe to go. Across healthcare, sanitation and education, we work to remove barriers to healthier, more secure lives.
