Sanitation Facilities in Schools around Manali, Chennai
AM FOUNDATION has engaged the services of M/s Wherever the Need India Services (WTNIS), [a non-profit company] an arm of Sanitation First, UK, in the construction of sanitation projects. WTNIS has experience in creation and maintenance of eco-friendly toilets and ecological container based sanitation facilities.
5 schools near the factories of Manali Petrochemicals Limited, Manali have been identified for construction of toilet facilities. The total cost involved is Rs.127 lakhs. Manali Petrochemicals Limited is funding this project.
Toilet facilities in two schools have been completed and put to use. Construction work is in progress in other schools.
Provision of Individual Toilets in Households
AM FOUNDATION has undertaken a project to provide toilet facilities for about 250 beneficiaries in Tiruvotriyur, an area near MPL factories in response to the request received from Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) under the Swachh Bharat Scheme. AM FOUNDATION signed MoU with GCC and Construction of 192 units has been completed in the settlement near Manali Petrochemicals Limited and work will be initiated for further 58 units shortly.
Rs.45 lakhs has been spent so far.
Construction of toilet blocks in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Thirupathiripuliyur, Cuddalore town, Tamilnadu
A new toilet block at a cost of Rs.19.60 lakhs has been constructed in Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Thirupathiripuliyur in Cuddalore, catering to 1700 students. Greenstar Fertilizers Limited funded this project. Wherever The Need India Services has constructed the toilet block (Project).
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore Old Town
In continuation of the above, AM FOUNDATION has undertaken construction of toilets in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore Old Town at a cost of Rs.24 lakhs. Expected to be put to use shortly.
Puducherry Expansion – Inner City Sanitation Project
Construction of 25 toilets in the first phase has been completed and Phase II construction work will start shortly.
